Gambling Project Officer

About the role:

As the Gambling Project Officer, you are directly responsible to the Gambling Program Manager. The aim of this role is to work in consultation and collaboratively within the Gambling Team and to contribute to the overall program development, delivery and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel regularly to deliver gambling harm minimisation training and education to a range of organisations throughout the Northern Territory. (gaming industry, gaming venues, licensing and regulation, community organisations and schools)
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders by demonstrating regular contact, meetings, training and education sessions, and mail-outs.
  • Develop and disseminate industry-specific health promotion material, safer gambling information and treatment options.
  • Contribute to the review and development of gambling harm minimisation training and education sessions.
  • Assist in the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation of gambling programs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and submissions, as required.
  • Promote Amity Community Services at community events.
  • Engage in further activities, as appropriate, which advance professional, project and agency development.
  • Other duties as directed by the Programs Manager, General Manager or CEO.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Qualifications in counselling, mental health, community services, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel throughout the NT and work outside of normal business hours, when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • A current Ochre Card or willingness to obtain.
  • A National Police Check.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, with the ability to deliver information appropriately in diverse settings.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-motivation related to work practice and learning.
  • A current Northern Territory Driver’s License.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training/education sessions to diverse groups.
  • Knowledge in the field of gambling.
  • Knowledge of the local Darwin Community and the community sector.
