Amity Community Services  believes in helping people help themselves.

We are a non-government and non-religious organisation that has been operating since 1976 and we are located at 155  Stuart Highway  Parap  NT  0820.

Amity provide services to assist people to deal with behaviours of habit that have become a problem. Counselling is provided on an individual face to face basis, telephone or internet.

 

 

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week in the Northern Territory
14th May – 21st May 2012

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week is a national event that aims to raise community awareness of the importance of responsible gambling practices. It is organised by Amity Community Services in partnership with the Government, other treatment service providers, the gaming industry and researchers.

There are lots of opportunities to get involved!

During Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, a range of events will be held around the Territory for the general public and remote Aboriginal communities.

Darwin
A day in the life of Reggie – Message Theatre
What: Message theatre is about delivering important messages in a fun and effective way. With music and humour, learn about the facts that dispel common myths around gambling.
When and where:    14th May – Raintree Park, Darwin CBD at 12:15pm
                                 16th May – Casuarina Square, Food Court at 12:15pm
                                 17th May – Palmerston Shopping Centre at 12:15pm

Alice Springs
Two Cards, Three Cards – Message Theatre
What: Especially written for remote Aboriginal communities, Two Cards, Three Cards is an interactive and participatory play that highlights social and cultural elements of card playing and its potentially problematic aspects for individuals, families and communities.
When and where:    21st May – Alice Springs – Yeperenye Shopping Centre at 12:15pm

Nhulunbuy
Outdoor Broadcasting
What: 8EAR are having an outdoor broadcast with sausage sizzle, along with health promotion giveaways and participation by local member Lynne Walker and Yolgnu Elders.
When and where:    26th May – Town Hall from 9am to 12 noon

Across the Territory
What: Distribution of posters, coasters and information material for venues, pubs and clubs.
