Follow a day in the life of Uncle Croc and friends at ‘The Local’. Understand red flag behaviours in action and get some tips on how to identify and respond to problem gambling in a venue.
Produced in partnership with italk library, Red Flags is an animated story developed as a training tool to help gambling venue workers understand, identify and respond to red flag behaviours.
We adopted the view that we could move away from traditional training tools, scenarios and videos that depict human suffering as a result of ongoing problems with electronic gaming machine gambling, and create characters and stories that use humour to show behaviours and responses.
The story draws on research and evidence in regards to indicators of repetitive behaviours in problem gambling.
Red Flags is consistent with a public health approach by assisting:
- early identification and intervention with individuals evidencing problematic behaviour
- avoiding stigma associated with pathological gambling
- remaining morally and ethically neutral on the causal basis of these behaviours
- planning and implementation based on best practice evidence
