Funding
Amity's gambling service is funded entirely by the Racing and Gaming
Authority and the Drink Driver Education service is provided on
a user-pays basis. The drug service is funded by Territory Health
Services from the Alcohol and Other Drug Program budget.
Because intervention for eating disorders is similar to intervention
for drug and gambling related problems, and when numbers were relatively
low, we could incorporate eating disorders into existing services.
However, intervention sessions have doubled since 1998, and prevention
and early intervention services are urgently needed. Additionally,
attendances for mental health counselling and coping skills training
sky rocketed in 1997 and have remained high.
We have raised some revenue from fee-for-service consultation and
training to the private and public sector.
